The Lone Star Executive Airport wants to add a fire truck to its county facility.

Montgomery County Commissioners are scheduled to approve the purchase of an engine — a surplus 1987 Oshkosh P-19 aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) vehicle.

The county is to spend $250,000 for the vehicle, and an an additional $40,000 for the inspection, testing, certificate and restoration of the truck, including pumps and fixed equipment.

Although stationed at the LSEA, the fire truck will be operated and maintained by the Conroe Fire Department, said Airport Director Scott Smith.

The vehicle was acquired from the U.S. Department of Defense.

Once restored, the fire truck will be housed at LSEA, said Aiport Director Scott Smith.
