The Meridian Fire Department has welcomed a new rescue fire truck which replaces a truck that has been service for twenty years, reports WTOK.

The $650,000, E-One model has the ability to pump water which the former truck could not. The primary function will be to respond to vehicle accidents and other rescue situations.

A committee of firefighters decided what should be on Rescue 1 and how it could function better than previous trucks.
