Meriden (CT) Residents Hope to Save Fire Apparatus

Some residents of Meriden (CT) are concerned with a budget plan that could cost the fire department one of its trucks.

The city council is considering keeping engine three, but also looking into alternatives. These options include replacing engine three with a two-man medical van manned by firefighters or an ambulance crew.

But, many residents like the idea of a fire engine in the neighborhood.

City leaders say mapping shows if all engines are available at the other fire houses, all but two percent of the territory now covered by engine three is served.
