Man Charged with Reckless Driving after Hitting Fire Apparatus in Virginia

A man is charged with reckless driving after hitting a fire truck Wednesday morning on Interstate 77.

Christopher Adams, of Georgia, was driving the Honda Civic that hit the fire truck.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. at mile marker 9 in Carroll County.

According to Virginia State Police, the Hillsville Fire Department truck was preparing to head to a crash site when the accident occurred. Police say the fire truck had its red lights on and was waiting for northbound I-77 to clear when Adams lost control of his vehicle, ran into the crossover and struck the side of the fire truck.

No one in the fire truck was injured. Adams had a minor injury.

Virginia State Police say heavy snow was falling in the area during the time of the accident.
