Two new fire engines are planned to replace two that are a decade past their life expectancy and a ladder truck, reports WGXA News.

The average life expectancy for a fire truck is 20 years. The need for a new fire truck is evident from December when one of the fire truck’s caught on fire.

The fire department also hopes to get new breathing apparatuses, protective gear and portable radios. Outfitting every firefighter with new radios has been a long term project for the department.

The funds for this year’s Capital Improvement Program come from General, SPLOST and Leasepool funds.
