Lower Burrell Volunteer Fire Company refurbished a fire truck and saved $300,000 instead of purchasing a new truck, reports Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The 2001 Pierce fire engine was refurbished for $257,000 and the work is expected to extend the truck’s service for another 10 to 12 years.

The refurbishment included an overhaul of the water pump, body work and installation of new LED emergency lights, a new radiator and a new light tower.
