Lowell IN Investigates Purchase of Aerial Apparatus

The Lowell (IN) Town Council is ready to sign off on the lease/purchase of an aerial fire truck if the deal meets all legal requirements.

The Fire Department has an opportunity to acquire a $555,000 demonstration truck. But, the price falls under the “tag on” procedure in which the state already has established a price with the same specifications in another order, Charlie Scott told the council on behalf of Fire Chief Clint Gorball.

The current aerial truck is 19 years old and has absorbed more than $10,000 in maintenance expenses in the last two years, Scott said.

Scott said the demonstration truck is currently driving up and down the East Coast in search of a buyer and is on a two-week hold for the Lowell Fire Department.
