By Mike Ciampo

The Wallington (NJ) Fire Department is a volunteer fire department serving southwest Bergen County, New Jersey. The department runs out of three firehouses and are well known and respected throughout the county. It hosts an annual nighttime holiday parade where hundreds of decked out fire apparatus come with lights and decorations mounted all over them and parade through town.

The emergency squad runs a rescue, SCUBA unit, and ambulance units.  Unfortunately, the department recently suffered the loss of two family members Greg Barnas, also a career Captain with the Jersey City (NJ) Fir Department’s Ladder 6 who made the supreme sacrifice while operating at a fire in Wallington, and his son John Barnas, who succumbed to Leukemia.

When viewing their apparatus, one can sense their pride in company logos and paying tribute to their fallen through their memorial logos and to those lost on 9-11-01.
