Leon County (FL) Holds Annual Fire Apparatus Roundup

For the past 16 years, Leon County’s Volunteer Fire Departments at Chaires-Capitola, Bradfordville, Lake Jackson, Lake Talquin, Miccosukee and Woodville come together for the Leon County Annual Fire Truck Roundup.

This year’s appreciation event is on Saturday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bannerman Crossing near the southwest corner of Thomasville and Bannerman. The community is encouraged to attend this fun and exciting appreciation event.

Children can explore fire truck equipment and enjoy family-friendly music. Additionally, volunteers will offer free hot dogs and drinks, face painting and give-a-ways.

The Jack Harron Leon County Volunteer Firefighter of the Year will be announced at 11 a.m. and the winner will be presented with a trophy from the Earl Bacon Insurance Agency, which has sponsored this event for the past 16 years.

The volunteer firefighters have renamed this prestigious award after the former Miccosukee Fire Chief who lost a battle with cancer.

Mr. Harron served 17 years as the fire chief and was instrumental in the creation of this annual event, which highlights the service and dedication of the men and women who protect life and property of Leon County’s citizens.
