The Laurel (MD) Volunteer Fire Department plans to donate its 1999 American LaFrance pumper to a Hawkins County (TN) volunteer fire department, reports timesnews.net. Officials estimate the apparatus is valued between $45,000 and $50,000.

Two departments have submitted requests for the truck—both of which operate apparatus manufactured in the 1980s—but response volume, need, and other such considerations need to be factored in, the report says.

The Hawkins County Volunteer Fireman’s Association’s executive board at its meeting next Wednesday will decide the recipient.

It’s the fourth major donation the association has received in the past four months—it also took delivery of a fire truck, equipment, and breathing apparatus masks and harnesses from various national volunteer departments, the report says.
