The Lakeville Fire District put into service last month a new 2020 pumper built by Pierce Manufacturing, reports Livingston County News.
The truck replaces a rig that served for three decades. The 2020 Pierce Pumper carries six firefighters, is powered by a 450 horsepower diesel engine, and features both stationary and pump-and-roll capabilities using a pump that will deliver 1,500 gallons of water per minute from a 1,000 gallon water tank with an integral 20 gallon foam tank.
The pumper can deliver water from the tank, from the 120 fire hydrants in the Lakeville Fire District, or by drafting from ponds or creeks in the area or from Conesus Lake. A rear dump chute allows the operator to quickly empty the water tank during pumper/tanker shuttle operations.
