WEST HAVEN, Connecticut–The City of West Haven-Allington Fire Department hopes to sign the purchase contract and financing agreement on a new $870,895 aerial fire truck by early next week after receiving final City Council approval.
The department is financing the truck over five years through the Pierce-associated Oshkosh Capital, beginning with a $501,600 payment to reduce the principal balance of the loan using funds the fire department received from the sale of its former aerial truck, said Corporation Counsel Vin Amendola.
Councilwoman Nancy Rossi, D-7, chairwoman of the council’s Finance Committee, said all that’s left to do is for Amendola to clarify some contract language after there was a difference of interpretation over whether the $501,600 payment constituted a “downpayment” or a reduction of principal.
The department is expected to take delivery of the new truck within 270 days, or about nine months.
