WATCH | Jacksonville (FL) FD Works Three-Alarm Apartment Fire Under Construction

A newly released hour and six-minute video on The JFRD YouTube site shows the extreme manpower, apparatus, teamwork, and communication it took Jacksonville firefighters to contain the massive Jan. 28 and 29 RISE Doro apartment fire downtown, jacksonville.com reported.

A fire official said 110 firefighters were on the scene along with 12 pumpers, seven ladder trucks, six rescue units and a multitude of apparatus, the report said. The $66 million high-rise luxury apartments were vacant and finalizing construction for its March 1 expected opening, according to the report.

“Because the building was under construction, crews dealt with unfinished stairwells, access issues, unprotected elevator shafts, along with burnt through floors,” JFRD said on its YouTube channel. “Collapse became a major concern as we were pumping thousands of gallons of water into this building with fire damage and unfinished construction to also consider. This fire burned through the entire night and into the following day with hot spots flaring up even five days later.”
