A Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department truck was damaged in a crash while en route to Friday’s duplex fire on Baldwin Street in Meadville.

The collision happened at 2:11 p.m. at the French Creek Parkway and Willow Street, according to a Meadville Police Department crash investigation report.

The fire department’s aerial fire truck was traveling north on the parkway with its emergency lights activated while a car was stopped westbound on Willow Street at the intersection of Willow and the parkway, report said.

The car, driven by Elaine Hughes, 58, of Meadville, then proceeded into the intersection with a steady green light for westbound traffic, the report said.

The fire truck, driven by John Fuller, proceeded through a steady red light for northbound traffic and the two vehicles collided.

The car sustained crippling damage with Hughes transported to Meadville Medical Center for treatment of injuries, the report said. The fire truck sustained minor damage. The report did not indicate if Fuller was injured.
