Rochester (MA) Fire Chief Says Fire Apparatus ‘Quickly Failing’

Rochester (MA) Fire Chief Scott Weigel told selectmen that he needs to replace a circa-1972 ladder truck that is “quickly failing.”

Weigel said he would like to talk to the Finance Committee about replacing it with a circa-2002 $75,000 ladder truck the Boston Fire Department is about to take out of service.

“It’s a much safer truck, with a bucket that will make fighting chimney fires safer,” Weigel said. “It would take $37,000 to fix our ladder truck and we would still have a 1972 truck.”
