Knotts Island (NC) Gets New Fire Apparatus

Currituck County (NC) has taken delivery of a new fire engine truck to serve the community of Knotts Island.

The Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department (KIVFD) received the vehicle on August 13, 2013, and has been mounting equipment on the vehicle in preparation for active service.

KIVFD members, along with personnel from Currituck County Emergency Medical Services assigned to Knotts Island, are also conducting training sessions with the fire engine.

Manufactured by E-One, officials say the truck will help provide timely fire protection to the Knotts Island community. As this new vehicle is brought into service, an older truck will be retired. Currently, KIVFD operates three fire engines, one tanker, and one brush truck.
