KME Announces Vancouver and Los Angeles Fire Engine Orders

Nesquehoning, PA – KME has announced that City of Vancouver, Washington and the City of Los Angeles, California, have each placed orders for multiple fire trucks with the apparatus manufacturer.

Vancouver worked with Cascade Fire and Safety on a five-year contract to acquire multiple pumpers. The first pumper will be a KME Predator™ with seating for six, external EMS cab compartment access, 450-hp engine, and dual secondary braking with a transmission retarder. The pumpers include 1,250-gpm pumps and 500 gallons of water.

The City of Los Angeles Fire Department has awarded KME an order for 11 custom pumpers. The award is part of a multiyear contract with options for future apparatus purchases. The pumpers will be built on KME’s Predator™ Severe Service™ chassis, designed for high-volume fleets and will be similar to units previously delivered to the city in 2011. Features include 450-hp engines, 1,750-gpm two-stage pumps, 500-/30-gallon water/foam tanks, Class A foam systems, and a five-year bumper to bumper warranties. The body is custom designed for the LAFD to carry the ladders at a low enclosed height, enclosed suction hose storage, and compartmentation in the hosebed area designed for specialized equipment.
