The Juneau Volunteer Firefighters Association (AK) has purchased the municipality’s original 1927 American LaFrance fire truck, which had been in a private museum in Portland (OR).
The engine was in use in Juneau until 1953.
The Juneau Empire (http://bit.ly/1b7J5zG) reports no one knew its recent history until Capital City Fire and Rescue Chief Rich Etheridge in March took a call saying the truck was for sale for $38,000.
The association has donated the truck to the Capital City Fire and Rescue. Firefighters will display the truck and hope to make it run for use in parades.
