Johnson City (TN) Fire Apparatus Involved in Accident

An accident happened Monday during the morning rush on West Main Street.

Officials said a fire truck was traveling eastbound on West Main Street when it was en route to a call. Fire crews used a mechanism in the truck to change the light at the intersection of Winter and W. Main St.

The mechanism turned the light green for the fire truck to have the right of way, while the light turned red for drivers on Winter Street.

While the light turned red, a woman in a tan vehicle did not stop in time and struck the fire truck.

No other details about the crash were readily available to the public.
