Jefferson Twp. (OH) Hits Utility Pole, Continues to Accident Scene

A Jefferson Twp. (OH) fire truck damaged a vehicle and caused a power failure Monday afternoon when it hit a utility pole in the area of Lutheran Church Road.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the fire truck was headed south on Lutheran Church en route to a two-vehicle crash. The fire truck apparently lost control and hit the pole, which brought down wires onto a vehicle.

No one was injured. It is unclear whether the fire truck stopped after hitting the pole.

The downed pole knocked out power to 242 Dayton Power & Light customers, according to DP&L’s online outage map.  The pole was expected to be replaced, and the transformer reattached, by about midnight, she said.

The fire truck did continue to the crash at Mile and South Lutheran Church, which was determined to be minor.
