The Jackson City Council unanimously approved a $5 million lease-purchase agreement to provide the fire department with seven new fire trucks, reports Jackson Sun.
The funds are needed to replace an aging fleet. The fire department currently uses eight fire trucks 15 years or older. Last year, the fire department spent $370,000 on maintenance for the seven fire trucks up for replacement.
The seven new trucks will be: three conventional pumper trucks, two rescue pumper trucks, a ladder truck and a tower truck.
To speed up the purchase process, the city council will hold a special-called virtual meeting next Tuesday
