A new compact brush firefighting unit on a 5 foot, 6 inch track crawler has been developed by Enterprise Equipment Solutions.
The product is called FIRST RESPONDER, and is designed to provide access through rough, overgrown or swampy areas otherwise inaccessible by conventional all terrain vehicles or brush trucks.
The operator and the crawler, according to the company, are protected by heavy-duty brush guards along with a FOPS/ROPS-certified canopy, which gives falling object and rollover protection. The unit also has a durable undercarriage built for rugged terrain with steel reinforced low-maintenance tracks, the company said.
Among its features are: a 300-gallon polyproylene water tank with 10-gallon foam cell; an 18-hp Honda engine, pump and electric hose reel that accepts up to 200 feet of hose; and a front-mounted remote control nozzle. The unit has fold-down side rails that provide sure footing while operating directly from the back of the unit, according to the company.
A powerful diesel engine and two-speed transmission provide enough torque and horsepower to maneuver steep inclines and achieve a speed of up to 6.8 mph, the company said. A rear-mounted 9,000-pound winch removes the need for additional support equipment.
The FIRST RESPONDER tows easily on a custom low-deck trailer with surge brakes and fold-down ramps for quick unloading and an optional GPS guidance system enables the operator to exit via the entrance route, providing safe, secure evacuation.
With a loaded weight of less than 10,000 pounds, the FIRST RESPONDER is portable by helicopter to remote areas, Enterprise Equipment Solutions, which is in Destin, Fla.
