Elite Fire Apparatus, based in Tilleda, Wis., has been awarded a contract to provide 37 pumpers to the Montgomery County (Md.) Fire and Rescue Service.
“This is a tremendous step in assuring that our first responders are equipped to assure operational efficiency utilizing the latest in safety technology when called to handle a myriad of hazards,” says Montgomery County Fire Chief Tom Carr.
The new apparatus, which will cost approximately $435,000 each, will be designed to handle all the hazards faced by the department now and into the future, Carr says.
Spartan Gladiator cabs and chassis will be the platform for each unit and Hale will provide the fire pumps. They will be equipped with Hale’s CAFSPRO systems. They’ll also have space for emergency medical services equipment and supplies as well as climate-controlled space for drugs and narcotics.
The first pumper will be built this summer and production will continue at a rate of six units every four months with completion of the contract expected in 24 months.
