REV GROUP has acquired FERRARA FIRE APPARATUS, Inc., a custom fire apparatus and rescue vehicle manufacturer that engineers and manufactures vehicles for municipal and industrial customers. The Ferrara product portfolio includes multiple fire apparatus configurations tailored to the specific requirements and demands of the fire service industry – including custom builds on its own chassis as well as solutions on commercially available chassis such as Freightliner and International.

Ferrara joins E-ONE and KME in REV’s Fire Group. “We are pleased to welcome Ferrara to the lineup of our premier portfolio of fire brands which includes E-ONE and KME,” says Dan Peters, president of REV Fire Group. “The Ferrara brand has a long history of product innovation built around a commitment to heavy duty vehicle construction.”

PIERCE MANUFACTURING Inc., has delivered the first-ever Pierce® Ascendant® 107-foot tractor-drawn aerial tiller to the Tuscaloosa (AL) Fire & Rescue Department. The fire apparatus is built on a Pierce Arrow XT™ chassis and features a 500-hp engine, a four-door cab, and seating for six firefighters. The tiller trailer includes TAK-4® independent suspension for a smoother ride and enhanced control.

The 107-foot aerial ladder features a weight-optimized design structure that places weight and mass only where required. The aerial delivers a full 107-foot vertical reach and a 100-foot horizontal reach with a below-grade operation of -10°. Local Pierce dealer Emergency Equipment Professionals (EEP) provides comprehensive sales and support services.

REV GROUP is pleased to announce the delivery of the first E-ONE Metro 100 quint to the Sarasota County (FL) Fire Department. E-ONE’s Metro 100 quint features a 100-foot ladder on a single rear axle; a 235-inch wheelbase; a choice of LTH 100, HM 100, or 110-foot aerial devices, each featuring a 2.5:1 structural safety factor; integral torque box chassis constructed with formed high strength steel;

crisscross under-slung jacks with only 11-foot spread; 24K Dana front beam axle with taper leaf springs; 35K Dana rear axle with Link Atlas air suspension; up to a 2,000-gpm pump; and 300- or 500-gallon water tank. Features specific to Sarasota County include a Cummins ISX12 500-hp engine and Allison EVS4000 transmission and a severe-duty front bumper with two hydraulic reels and tray for hydraulic rescue tools.

MSA SAFETY INCORPORATED has established a three-year sustaining partnership with the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) to continue to raise awareness of the cancer risks faced by firefighters. MSA will donate $50,000 over the life of the partnership. In addition to the official partnership, MSA launched a special campaign at FDIC International 2017 to raise awareness of the steps firefighters can take to reduce their risk. Called #KeepYourMaskOn, the campaign encourages firefighters to take responsibility and help protect their health by wearing their mask from initial attack through overhaul – a preventive measure that has been identified to reduce firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens.

SPARTAN EMERGENCY RESPONSE announced the opening of its fire apparatus and fleet vehicle refurbishment centers to meet industry needs for a cost-effective approach to repair out-of-service, damaged, and worn trucks in weeks or months for typically half the cost of a new vehicle. With seven centers and 35 bays located across Spartan campuses in Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and South Dakota, the process offers a complete range of services and refurbishments from light repairs and refreshes to full cab and chassis replacements and recertifications. Refurbishments can include new ladders, pump replacements, fixture repair or replacement, insurance repair work, new chassis, or any combination for departments or municipalities looking for a cost-effective way to upgrade their fleet without the capital expense associated with purchasing a new vehicle.
