• SPARTAN CHASSIS, Inc. is supplying 25 Metro Star® emergency response cabs and chassis to the Beijing, Shenyang, Suzhou, Taiyuan, Wenzhou, and Wuhan Fire Departments in China. This brings the total number of Spartan emergency response cabs and chassis purchased by China to 94. Under the terms of the contracts, Spartan will provide the emergency response cabs and chassis to Itasca, Illinois-based W.S. Darley & Company in the fourth quarter of 2011 and first quarter of 2012 to add the body and pump systems to fulfill the order. The vehicles are scheduled for delivery to the China fire departments during the second quarter of 2012.

• SEAGRAVE FIRE APPARATUS has received an order for 12 95-foot Aerialscope aerial platforms from the Fire Department of New York (FDNY). The FDNY specification demands apparatus performance characteristics that create a unique apparatus build. The aerials feature improved hydraulic performance, service-friendly diagnostics, and a compact boom for shorter overall truck length, providing an unrestricted 1,000-pound platform rating while flowing 1,250 gpm. The apparatus body is built for the demanding FDNY duty cycle. Stainless steel material, grating for all walkways, and extra rear protection against low-speed impacts are some of the unique features provided.

• CUMMINS INC. launched Cummins Care, an enhanced customer assistance program providing 24/7 response for the fire and emergency vehicle market. The program is the latest addition to the operation located at the new Cummins Customer Support Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Cummins employs 110 specialists at the 25,000-square-foot facility who are trained to provide the highest level of professional service to Cummins customers. Cummins Care representatives are prepared to answer questions and assist customers with finding the nearest available and qualified service location for fire and emergency vehicle customers. This service ensures that the location can quickly meet the customer’s specific service requirements. Cummins Care uses the same 1-800-DIESELS™ number that customers know today.

• PIERCE MANUFACTURING announced that, since its introduction in April, the Dash CF has been specified on recent orders from diverse regions of North America. The Dash CF is available in a broad range of pumper, rescue-pumper, rescue, and tanker configurations, as well as with the 2010 EPA-compliant Detroit Diesel DD13 big block engine that delivers up to 500 horsepower and near zero emissions. Departments such as the Cedar Hill (TX) Fire Department, the Bloomington (IL) Fire Department, and Cranbrook (British Columbia) Fire and Emergency Services have chosen the Dash CF.

Pierce also expanded its dealer territories for Hughes Fire Equipment, headquartered in Springfield, Oregon and Siddons-Martin Emergency Group of Denton, Texas. Hughes Fire Equipment adds the state of Arizona (also for the Medtec brand) and Clark County in Nevada (including the city of Las Vegas) to its present territory of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. Siddons-Martin Emergency Group has added the five westernmost counties of Texas and the state of New Mexico for both the Pierce and Medtec brands to its current Pierce territory of Texas and Louisiana.

• MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS Foundation has presented the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) with a $1 million grant to honor the nation’s fallen firefighters and improve firefighter safety. Representatives from Motorola Solutions presented the grant to Chief Dennis Compton, chairman of the board of directors, and Chief Ronald J. Siarnicki, executive director of the NFFF, in August. The money will support the Motorola Solutions Foundation Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Everyone Goes Home® Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. Both are programs of the NFFF.

• ROSENBAUER has signed a contract with Brazil’s state-owned airport operator Infraero Aeroportos to supply 80 PANTHER ARFF units worth $42.9 million. The PANTHERs will be manufactured at two Rosenbauer plants in Minnesota with the firefighting systems being supplied from the main plant in Leonding, Austria. The vehicles in question are PANTHER 6x6s with 665-hp Detroit Diesel engines. They have a top speed of 120 km/h and an extinguishant payload of 12,870 liters.

• HAVIS INC. has sold its Lighting Solutions product line to R-O-M Corporation. The sale presents Havis with the opportunity to focus on its four remaining product lines—mounting solutions, computing solutions, transport solutions, and power management solutions—and reaching out to new customers. Havis and R-O-M will work closely during the next several months to ensure a smooth transition for both customers and employees.

• GRAINGER, a broad line distributor of facilities maintenance products, has enhanced its KeepStock® suite of inventory management solutions. The updated and expanded portfolio builds on the company’s experience assisting customers with inventory management by providing a variety of solutions that are as unique as a business’s operations. Grainger’s KeepStock portfolio helps businesses and institutions improve usage and control of products ranging from saw blades to safety glasses, power tools, and cleaning supplies.

• PELICAN PRODUCTS, a manufacturer of protective case solutions and portable LED lighting systems, has appointed two business development directors, Rich Cusolito and Jeff Wodrich, as directors of new segments, and John Hanwell as director of new product development—Advanced Area Lighting Group (AALG).
