The city of Franklin, Indiana is considering a possible “give away” of an unused fire station, worth an estimated $125,000, to any interested group willing to use the building to benefit the community, according a recent report from the Associated Press, the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Journal.
The report said the Franklin fire station building has been unused and vacant for approximately nine months. The mayor of the city would like the building put to good use according to his comments in the report:

The report said the Franklin fire station building has been unused and vacant for approximately nine months. The mayor of the city would like the building put to good use according to his comments in the report:
“Mayor Fred Paris tells the Daily Journal that he wants the building to be used and doesn’t care whether it’s given away or sold. He said interested groups should submit a proposal on how they would use it to benefit the community.”
Select council members are concerned that certain nonprofit groups will have difficulty paying the utility bills for the 17,000-square-foot building.
