Group Wants to Display Columbia Gardens (MT) Fire Apparatus in Park

The group that oversees the carousel in Butte wants to display the fire truck that used to serve Columbia Gardens at Stodden Park, reports Montana Standard.

The fire truck belonged to the Spirit of Columbia Gardens Volunteer Fire Department and it actually responded to a fire at the amusement park in November 1973 that destroyed the merry-go-round, bi-plane swings, arcade and boardwalk. The park was a mainstay in Butte for nearly 75 years but never opened again after the fire.

The truck has been used in some parades, but it’s possible a lot of people haven’t seen it or don’t remember it.
