The Greenfield and District Volunteer Fire Department had the the misfortune of having not one but two truck mishaps due to poor road conditions, the small department said in a Facebook post. The apparatus went off the road responding to the same fire call over the weekend, ctvnews.ca reported.
“We are currently down two trucks for the unforeseen future,” the post said.
A fire official said he thinks one of the trucks is a total loss and the other will require repairs. It’s a price tag he estimates will be around $1.3 million in total, the news report said.
All fire personnel is OK, according to the department.
The incident happened Sunday when a call came in for mutual aid at a structure fire in White Point, Nova Scotia, according to the news report. Three trucks were sent to a call of a structure fire, but none of them made it to the location, the report said.
“North Queens has kindly loaned us one of theirs to keep at the hall so we are still able to respond to emergencies,” the Facebook post said. “Thank you to the members of the Greenfield and District Fire Department for your dedication, you all put in a rough day.”
