The Grand Junction Fire Department recently showed off the newest additions to its fleet, designed to enhance the community’s safety and emergency response capabilities, the department said in a Facebook post.
Tower 6
Tower 6 is a 100-foot mid-mount platform fire truck with a 2,000 gallon-per-minute (gpm) pump. This state-of-the-art apparatus enhances the department’s ability to suppress fires in buildings of all sizes. Tower 6 will be stationed at Fire Station 6, strategically located near Horizon Drive to efficiently serve the area’s high-rise buildings and surrounding community. The truck cost around $1.7 million, kkco.com reported.
Brush 5
Our newest wildland firefighting vehicle, Brush 5, is built for rugged, remote, and wildfire-prone areas. Its compact design and high ground clearance allow it to navigate rough terrain and access hard-to-reach areas.
Boat 5
Towed by Brush 5, Boat 5 is a jet boat specially designed for swiftwater rescue, flood response, and remote access scenarios. Its lack of a propeller enables shallow-water operations, while its design ensures quick turns, reverse thrust, and stability in fast-moving currents.
