Glenn Heights (TX) Fire Department 2016 Spartan ER Legend Series Pumper

Engine 301 began service with the Glenn Heights (TX) Fire Department on March 8, 2017. The cab/chassis are the Spartan Metro Star EMFD model with a 10-inch raised roof and the Classic model front end and grille. The cab has seating for 5 that features Bostrom seats with IMMI SCBA brackets. Other cab amenities include a custom-made console/map book holder on the engine housing, Spartan’s heavy-duty A/C system, backup camera system and SparLiner cab interior. Cab safety is provided by Spartan’s Advanced Protection System (full side curtain airbags, driver and officer knee airbags, steering wheel airbag, advanced seat belt system and outboard crash sensors). Independent front suspension is featured as well.

The cab and Legend Series body are constructed of standard aluminum with PAC mounting boards throughout the body compartments. Roll-up doors on the body are provided by ROM. The rig is driven by a Cummins ISL9 450-hp engine and an Allison EVS 3000 5 speed transmission with pushbutton controls.

The apparatus features a side-mount pump panel and a Waterous CSUC20 midship, single-stage 1,500-gpm pump along with a Pro Poly 1,000-gallon tank. Foam is provided by a Waterous Aquis 1.5 System and a 20-gallon foam cell. The front jump line and crosslays are plumbed for foam as well. A Task Force Tips Hurricane deck gun with a TFT 18-inch Extend-A-Gun is mounted on top of the pump panel.

The hosebed for this rig carries 1,000’ of 5-inch LDH and 800’ of 3-inch hose. The front bumper tray carries 100’ of 1¾-inch hose connected to a 1½-inch discharge. Crosslays (1 with 150’ of 1¾-inch hose and 1 with 200’ of 1¾-inch hose and 1 with 200’ of 2½-inch hose and 2½-inch discharge) are located in a semienclosed compartment behind the cab. Cutouts on each side of the pump panel hold 5-inch extenders. A Hannay Model EF booster reel with 200’ of 1-inch hose is located in an enclosed rear compartment. Ladders (24’ extension, 14’ roof, and 10’ attic) and pike poles are stored in a compartment on the upper right rear body. An “A” frame, aluminum manually raised hosebed cover protects the hose load and features OnScene Solutiond LED lights on the underside of the cover that illuminate the hosebed when raised. Whelen IONS directional lighting is installed on the cover end cap. 

Warning lights include a Whelen Freedom LED Lightbar along with Whelen M6 LED lights on the body perimeter and Whelen M9 DOT lights and warning lights on the lower rear body. Two Whelen L31 LED beacons are mounted on the upper rear corners of the hosebed. Scene lighting is provided by Whelen Pioneer LED lights on the sides of the cab and body and on the brow along with Whelen M9 scene lights on the rear. Audio warning devices include a Federal Q2B siren mounted on the left front bumper and a Whelen model 295SLSA1 electronic siren module connected to two Cast Model SA4301 100 watt speakers mounted through the front bumper.
