Truck 4 was placed in service in July, 2014, with the Garland (TX) Fire Department. The chassis is a Pierce Arrow-XT PUC model with the TAK-4 independent front suspension system. Seating for six is provided as is an EMS compartment centered in the rear of the crew area. The fire truck’s cab and body are constructed of aluminum, and Amdor roll-up compartment doors are part of the body package. The Pierce Command Zone electrical system is also featured on the truck.

The fire apparatus is powered by a 500-hp Cummins ISX 12 engine and an Allison Generation IV EVS 4000 transmission with six speeds and pushbutton shifter. A Harrison 6-kW hydraulic generator is mounted on the front of the body (driver’s side dunnage area).

The truck has a Pierce PUC single-stage 1,500-gpm pump (midship) and a 500-gallon polypropylene tank. The foam system is a Husky 3 with a 20-gallon foam cell. Two 1¾-inch crosslays and one 2½-inch crosslay are located in an enclosed compartment behind the cab. A booster reel with 150 feet of one-inch is located in a rear officer’s side compartment. A chute on the officer’s side of the body carries 1,000 feet of five-inch LDH.

The aerial is a rear-mount, heavy-duty 75-foot stick constructed of aluminum and has an Elkhart StreamMaster monitor and nozzle. Blue LED lighting adorns the aerial for nighttime operations. A full complement of ground ladders is stored in the torque box.

The warning lights include two Whelen Freedom 28.25 inch light bars on the cab corners along with two of these same light bars over the front cab doors. Whelen M6, M7, and ION model LED lights are located around the rig exterior. Whelen Model B6MMR Super LED beacons are mounted on the upper rear corners of the truck. Scene lighting is provided by Whelen Pioneer Model LED lights. Note that Garland makes use of blue, green, and amber colors in addition to red in their emergency warning lights.

Audio warning devices include a bumper-mounted Federal Q2B and a Whelen Model 295HFSC9 dual-tone 200-watt electronic siren module with two Whelen SA122FMP speakers mounted through the front bumper. Two Whelen HOWLER speakers are mounted under the front bumper
