Funds Approved for Westminster MA Fire Apparatus

Westminster (MA) has voted unanimously in favor of spending $109,653 for the Fire Department’s tower-ladder truck that was damaged by a collapsing brick wall.

Brian Ruland said the Advisory Board wants to see the rules about who is liable when a vehicle is damaged during mutual aid to another town or city.

MacAloney said that under the agreement for the Midstate Fire Mutual Aid Association, each town is responsible for their own vehicles. He clarified that the town does not have to participate in the mutual-aid association, but withdrawing would cost them the guarantee of help from neighboring towns during a disaster.
