Fultondale (AL) Fire & Rescue Unveils New Apparatus, Enhances Emergency Response Capabilities

Fultondale, AL—Fultondale Fire & Rescue recently unveiled two new fire apparatus: a Spartan Emergency Response pumper and a Spartan/Smeal 100-foot platform ladder truck. These additions represent a substantial investment in public safety and highlight the department’s commitment to protecting the community.

Engine 401, the pumper, was unveiled in September and was the first new engine placed in service since 2012, representing a significant investment from the mayor and council of the City of Fultondale towards public safety. Chief Justin McKenzie expressed his gratitude for the city’s support and highlighted the apparatus’s role in ensuring the well-being of residents.

On September 27, 2024, Fultondale Fire & Rescue and the Fultondale Gas Board held a joint ceremony to unveil the 100-foot midmount platform, which is expected to enhance the emergency response capabilities of both organizations. The event also promoted the partnership between Fultondale Fire & Rescue and the Fultondale Gas Board through the Natural Gas Emergency Response Team. This cooperative agreement ensures a swift and coordinated response to any gas-related emergency, showcasing the power of collaboration and dedication to community safety.

McKenzie expressed his enthusiasm about the new Ladder 421, emphasizing its role in enhancing the department’s ability to serve and protect residents from all hazards. Josh Bryant, Chairman of the Fultondale Gas Board, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collaborative effort’s importance in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

McKenzie says the addition of these two new apparatus marks a significant step forward for Fultondale Fire & Rescue. These investments demonstrate the department’s commitment to providing the highest level of fire protection, prevention, and emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of Fultondale.
