Fort Garry Fire Goes Independent

Fort Garry Fire Trucks, the largest manufacturer fire apparatus in Canada, has separated from Fort Garry Industries.

Fort Garry Industries Ltd. was established in 1919 with corporate offices in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The fire truck division specializes in vehicles certified by the National Fire Protection Association and Underwriters Laboratories Canada.

The separation, effective Feb. 1, was announced by Rick Suche, president of Fort Garry Fire Trucks, which will continue to operate in its facility in Winnipeg. He said the company has plans to add staff and is undertaking an expansion of its plant that will double the size of its offices and provide more warehouse space and service bays.

The company has a new local phone number, 204-594-3473, but its fax line and toll free numbers remain the same. Staff email addresses have changed to include each individual’s first initial and last name followed by @fgft.ca.

Fort Garry Fire Trucks is the only Canadian company offering heavy duty, full-frame apparatus bodies available in aluminum, Galvanneal and stainless steel. It builds on Spartan, Sutphen and H.M.E. custom cabs and chassis, as well as other commercial truck chassis. The company builds aerial ladders, aerial platforms and water towers in steel and aluminum.
