Five Injured in Washington D.C. Fire Apparatus Accident

Five people were hurt when a fire truck and car collided Wednesday in Southeast Washington.

Authorities say a D.C. fire truck and a car crashed at the intersection of 53rd Street and Queens Stroll Place SE just after noon Wednesday.

Rescue personnel used the Jaws of Life to extricate a person who was trapped inside the vehicle. That person was transported to Prince George’s General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Four D.C. firefighters, who were on the truck at the time of the crash, suffered minor injuries. Authorities say the fire truck was from Engine 30 on 49th Street NE.
