First of 15 New Trucks Arrives in Augusta (GA)

Augusta, GA–Between now and mid-2015, the Augusta Fire Department will replace two-thirds of its trucks with new, enhanced firefighting vehicles.

An equipment trainer from Kovatch Mobile Equipment in Pennsylvania arrived Monday to help personnel learn the features of the new truck, including an aerial device.

Firefighters from Station 19 on Brown Road were the first to get their hands on the initial delivery, a 2014 quint.

“We’ve heard a lot about it,” Sgt. Chris Thompson, of Station 19, said before starting his six-hour training on the new truck Monday. “Now we’ll have to get it out on the road and see how it works.”
