Fire Equipment Plans for NV Station Revised

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Station No. 107, currently under construction in Sun City Summerlin, will not be equipped with two new fire trucks as originally announced in February 2009, according to a recent report from the Las Vegas Review Journal.

The report indicates that when the new fire station is completed, it will contain the same amount of crews and staff, but its equipment will need further evaluation. The public information officer for Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, Tim Szymanski, commented in the report on the possibilities of purchasing a “quint”- an all-purpose vehicle – for the department, which is now being considered by the city.

Szymanski was
quoted in the report to say, “It’s a ladder truck, a fire engine and a medical vehicle, all rolled into one.”
