Fire Apparatus Collision in Brooklyn Injures Eleven

Two Fire Department of New York vehicles collided this morning in Brooklyn (NY). Eleven firefighters were injured in the crash; four members suffered serious injuries.

The collision happened around 7:45 a.m. in Canarsie. One fire engine collided with another FDNY truck, smashing through a resident’s brick wall.

All of the injured firefighters were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Engine 257 was traveling south, while Hook & Ladder 170 was heading west, according to witnesses.

The trucks swerved and collided in the middle of the intersection. Black skid marks showed where they hit.

Both trucks crashed through a brick wall of a two-family house at the corner. Truck 170 slammed into a parked yellow cab before going through the wall.

The house itself escaped serious damage, other than a few busted windows.

The colliding trucks had been headed to the same fire, officials and witnesses said.
