FDNY Adds 10 More Ferrara Aerial Ladders

The Fire Department of New York City added another 10 aerial ladders to its contract with Ferrara Fire Apparatus Inc.

Ferrara, a premier custom fire apparatus manufacturer, announced the initial 10 aerial ladders last December. Coupled with a multi-unit heavy rescue project, Ferrara now has contracts with FDNY totaling more than $24 million.
“The addition of these 10 units should be interpreted as a clear signal that FDNY is pleased with the progress we’ve made on the initial order, as well as our willingness and ability to custom engineer the trucks to meet all their needs,” said Ferrara President and CEO Chris Ferrara.

The vehicles are designed around the Ferrara LP-102, a low-profile rear mount aerial ladder. The new aerial trucks will be built on a Ferrara custom chassis featuring a stainless steel split tilt cab, a four-section rear mount aerial ladder and a stainless steel body. Having a narrow width, tight turning radius and low overall height, the trucks will be built to accommodate the congested streets of New York and easily fit in the FDNY’s many historic fire stations.

While the FDNY trucks are designed without a pump, tank and pre-piped waterway, a municipal edition with those features is available.

Ferrara manufactures a complete line of fire, emergency and rescue vehicles. For information, contact Marketing Director Paul Christiansen at 800-443-9006, via e-mail at paul.christiansen@ferrarafire.com or by mail at Ferrara Fire Apparatus Inc., PO Box 249, Holden, LA  70744.
