The Woodbury Fire Department will hold its Fall Ball on Saturday to help raise money to restore a Seagrave fire engine that served as the town’s first apparatus in 1927.
For $95 per couple and $50 for individuals, guests can enjoy cocktails from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by dinner and then dancing from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Tickets are available at the Emergency Services Building on Quassuk Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Thursday or until 9 p.m. on Friday or by calling 203-263-3100. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
Former firefighter and Zoning Commissioner Ted Tietz donated the truck to the department in May, refusing a check for $7,500 raised through bingo games. He said he considered the fundraising a show of serious intent to restore the vehicle. Fire Chief Janet Morgan has estimated complete refurbishment will cost $100,000.
