Fair Grove (MO) Celebrates New Fire Apparatus

Citizens of Fair Grove will benefit from a recently awarded Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG). They celebrated today with an “Apparatus Dedication Ceremony.”

Each year, about 40,000 fire departments nationwide fill out grant applications.  Of those, only about 2,700 grants are awarded.  The Fair Grove Fire Department was one of the lucky recipients this year!

The money allowed the department to purchase this new service truck, which was christened at today’s ceremony. It runs medical calls, grass fires, and rescue car wrecks.

Fair Grove Fire Department officials said they could not afford updated equipment without grants.

“I’m extremely ecstatic. This is something I’ve been waiting for for about five years here.  Every year the federal government has grants.  We wrote a grant.  It takes about 50 hours to write one.  We wrote one last year for the truck.  We’ve had it for approximately two months now.  We run it on a daily basis,” said Fair Grove Fire Chief Mark Raymond.
