Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department to Receive New Fire Apparatus

The Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department will be getting a new, state of the art fire truck.

It’s made possible by a $1 million donation from the John and Melissa Besse Foundation. Foundation President Greg Besse said he wanted to follow his parents’ legacy by continuing to support health and safety in Delta County.

The truck is only one of three the in Upper Peninsula that feature a 100-foot aerial platform.

“This will enable us to access roofs in a much safer manner than we could before,” said volunteer firefighter Tom Sealander. “It will allow us to stand quite a distance from the fire and put a lot more water on it. This has a 2,000 gallon per minute automatic nozzle on it.”

Escanaba should have the truck by next March.
