Enterprise AL Fire Department Takes Delivery of New Fire Apparatus

The Enterprise Fire Department took delivery of a new fire truck that will be housed at the central fire station at city hall.

This is the first new truck the department has received in seven years.

In October 2013, Fire Chief Byron Herring recommended accepting a $449,410 bid from Sunbelt Fire Apparatus for the truck and a $16,858 bid from North American Fire Equipment Company for equipment during an Enterprise City Council meeting.

The total cost of the truck and related equipment is $466,268, and was a 2013 budgeted item by city officials, which was carried over into the 2014 budget.

Firefighters will receive specific training on the new truck.

The new truck will bring the city’s fleet to a total of eight fire trucks.

The fire department also recently received three new extrication machines, also known as the Jaws of Life, as well as four defibrillators for the city’s fire trucks.
