A $900,000 federal grant will help the Ellicott Creek (NY) Volunteer Fire Company buy a new 100-foot rear-mount aerial, according to a report published by WIVB 4.

The television station reported the new truck will replace a 39-year-old unit that does not have all the safety features of current apparatus.

When in service, the firefighters with the department based in Amherst (NY) will have the most up-to-date equipment to keep first responders safe, the station reported, adding that the grant was the largest to any in New York state this year.
