Easton (PA) Earns $40,000 from Auction of Fire Apparatus, Other Items

Eight pallets of retired Easton (PA) street signs brought in more money than an open cab 1985 Hahn pumper fire truck.

The apparatus, replaced last year by a new pumper, fetched $2,500 at an auction Saturday morning of the city’s extraneous possessions.

City Administrator Glenn Steckman said the sale was a success, but the city hoped for more from some of the larger items, like the fire truck.

“$2,500 is basically a scrap price,” Steckman said.

Antique street signs brought were a hot item, bringing in an estimated net between $7,000 and $8,000.
