East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen defended the police department’s response after a Middlesex County prosecutor claimed the East Brunswick PD of failing to properly notify him of a fatal crash involving an East Brunswick fire department vehicle, reports patch.com.
The fatal accident involved an elderly couple in their 80s. They were making a left hand turn when they were struck by an SUV from the East Brunswick fire department. The SUV was responding to a 911 call of a gas leak in an apartment complex.
East Brunswick police were called to the scene. The mayor said the couple was expected to survive as they were taken by ambulance to the hospital.
