E-One To Emphasize Improved Safety Features at FDIC

At the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) this year, E-ONE will feature several products that improve firefighter safety and control.

One is a rollover protection system with Inflatable Head Curtains (IHC) and an integrated buckle pretensioner system. The company will also introduce a CrewGuard occupant detection system with monitors seat belt use and records it for later review.

“We will have several products and features that promote our ‘MakeTheJobBetter.com’ marketing campaign to the industry,” said Amanda Davis, the company’s marketing and communications manager.

E-ONE, based in Ocala, Fla., has developed and enhanced several technological features, including an electronic stability control system called G4, which constantly monitors driving conditions and intervenes if critical lateral acceleration is detected or the vehicle begins to spin due to low friction surfaces.

The system has automatic traction control, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), and roll stability control, all available on E-ONE’s custom chassis.

The company will also showcase a variety of aerial control devices designed to deliver smooth, precise position with variable speed control, including a deployment speed that’s 46 percent faster than National Fire Protection Association 1901 requirements, according to E-ONE.

The company’s Aerial Information System keeps track of tip capacity, distributed loads and master stream as well as monitoring real-time ladder positions, tip and base temperatures and breathing air and hydraulic oil pressure. The system can calculate available aerial loads based on ladder position and provide the information on a backlit display, the company said.

As part of its connect better program, E-ONE has teamed with its parent company, Federal Signal to introduce the Predator system, which provides access to key information through a computer-aided dispatch application that contains an automatic vehicle locator, a fire hydrant locator and caller history information.

Also showcased at FDIC will be E-ONE’s Comms-ONE SUV high-tech communications vehicle. The unit features Codespear technology to provide access to everyone at the scene when communications matter most. The vehicle is capable of mass broadcasting, real-time communications, secure and encrypted communications and interoperability.
