Durham Welcomes New Pumper Truck

Durham (NH) firefighters and their families joined town officials and community members to welcome the department’s new pumper truck Tank 4.

Tradition called for the transfer of equipment from the Tanker 1, the older truck, to Tank 4, a water wash of the truck and a group-effort “push” of the new truck into the garage.

The $475,000 truck was custom built by Marion Rescue and Fire apparatus. It can carry 2,500 gallons of water, has a water indicator, back up camera and can take four firefighters plus their equipment to a scene.

A light tower sits atop Tank 4, as one of the department’s priorities it to have a well-lit area as most injuries occur due to lack of lighting and visibility.
