A fire engine in Walpole, Massachusetts, responding to reports of downed power lines during the recent winter storm, received a damaging electric shock causing one firefighter to jump from the vehicle, according to a report from WickedLocal.com.
Additional wires came down on Walpole’s Engine 5 while responding to the call at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday night. The report indicated that the electric charge blew out the engine’s rear tires and started a small fire forcing the firefighter seated inside the truck to jump to safety. Three firefighters at the incident avoided injury. NStar cut power to the area after the incident and the truck was then towed back to the station. The truck is currently being repaired byGreenwood Emergency Vehicles.
