The Dillsboro-Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of a new truck Friday, March 7, and will put it into service as soon as department members have been trained. Firefighters worked on getting the truck ready over the weekend, March 8 and 9.
Designed for both rescue and firefighting, the new rescue pumper replaces a 20-year-old pumper, a 1993 KME Top Mount Pumper.
Then-fire chief Tim Heitmeyer determined in 2012 the need to replace the older truck. It had served the department well but was starting to have annual maintenance issues, said Heitmeyer.
